Hudson Valley Wine Tours

Majestic Transportation Services & Limo Inc.

Our Hudson Valley wine tours are chauffeured days between the region’s wineries, booked by the hour and built around your party. We pick everyone up at home or at the hotel, take you between the tasting rooms you choose, wait at each stop, and bring everyone back at the end of the day. Nobody has to be the designated driver.

We are a transportation company, not a tour operator, so the tasting rooms are your choice. Our part is the vehicle, the chauffeur, and a schedule that fits the distances between stops, and we help you shape the route if you are new to the area. That is also what makes these private wine tours in the Hudson Valley: one party, one vehicle, your own pace.

Why People Book a Chauffeur for Wine Country

The obvious reason is the designated driver. On Hudson Valley wine tasting tours with a chauffeur, everyone can taste, and the person who would normally drive can enjoy the day too. The less obvious reasons matter just as much.

  • Everyone stays together. One vehicle means no convoy, no one lost on a back road, and no one waiting in a parking lot for the second car.
  • The roads are easier for someone else. Wine country here means two-lane country roads, gravel lots and a dark ride home in the fall.
  • Bottles have a place to go. Whatever you buy at one stop stays on board as you head to the next.

Weather is part of it too. A snowy winter tasting or a wet fall Saturday is easier when someone else handles the hills and the unlit roads, and the best Hudson Valley wine tours tend to be the unhurried ones, not the ones with the most stops.

How Our Hudson Valley Wine Tours Work

Start with an area and a short list of producers, then check with each one whether your party needs a tasting reservation. Wineries set their own hours, fees and rules for larger parties, and these change by season, so confirm directly with them before you lock the route.

Then book the hours with us. When you estimate them, include the time on the road to and from wine country, along with the time at the tasting rooms, since we are with you for all of it. For vans and limo buses we normally need 48 hours of notice; a 25% deposit is due at booking, with the balance 30 days before the tour.

On the day, your chauffeur arrives at the first pickup, collects everyone else if there is more than one address, and heads to the first tasting room, then waits at each stop until you are ready to move on. Stops are included in hourly service, so the wineries, a lunch stop and a farm stand on the way home are all part of the same booking, and you can change the order as you go. If the tour runs past the hours you booked, the extra time is added to the bill, along with any tolls or parking it causes.

A practical tip: plan fewer stops than you think you need. Three tastings and a long lunch fill most days comfortably.

Wine Areas We Drive To

Hudson River Valley wine tours tend to fall into a few clusters, and choosing one keeps the day on country roads rather than the highway. West of the river, the Shawangunk Wine Trail links wineries across Ulster and Orange counties. Benmarl Winery and Stoutridge Vineyard are in Marlboro, Robibero Family Vineyards is in New Paltz, and Whitecliff Vineyard is in Gardiner under the Shawangunk Ridge. These stops sit close enough together to fill a day without long stretches on the highway, and we pick up throughout Ulster County and from across the river.

In Orange County, Brotherhood Winery is in Washingtonville, close to our Monroe base, and a visit to Brotherhood works on its own or as the first stop of a longer day. Farther south and west, Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery and Applewood Winery are both in Warwick, which makes Warwick an easy half-day cluster.

On the east side of the river, Millbrook Vineyards & Winery is outside the village of Millbrook. It suits anyone starting in Dutchess or Putnam County, or a single tasting paired with lunch in the village.

Farther north, the farm country around the city of Hudson in Columbia County makes a longer Hudson Valley winery tour, and it is a day we already drive. Jess M. summed up hers in her Google review: “I reserved a private car to transport 5 of us to different wineries in Hudson.” From the lower valley, count the extra time on the road when you set the hours. The same applies to friends starting in Manhattan who want wine tours in the Hudson Valley from NYC: the day begins with a pickup in the city, and the drive up and back is part of the booked time.

Choosing a Vehicle by Party Size

A couple or a party of three fits a sedan or a Lincoln Aviator. Four to six people fit the Chevrolet Suburban, which keeps everyone in one vehicle and still has room for bottles. A birthday or bachelorette party that wants the tasting day to feel like a celebration fits the white Sprinter limousine, which seats up to 14. If the plan is to buy by the case, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, also for up to 14, is the better choice, because the cargo area sits behind the last row, away from the passengers.

Pairing a Wine Tour With Other Plans

A wine tour often sits inside a bigger occasion. A winery day suits a bachelorette weekend well, and the rest of that weekend can run on our bachelorette and bachelor party transportation. Friends who would rather taste beer can book a day of taprooms the same way, and a day that mixes a winery with shopping or a museum is simply an hourly booking.

Before You Book a Wine Tour

Do we need the full winery list before we reserve?

No. We need the date, the pickup addresses, the number of people and the area you want to visit, so we can set the hours. The exact wineries can be settled later, as long as you confirm any tasting reservations with the wineries yourselves.

Can the chauffeur collect guests from different towns?

Yes. Extra pickups count as stops, and stops are included in hourly service. Tell us every address at booking so we can set a start time that gets everyone to the first winery together.

We live in Westchester or Rockland. Is a tour across the river realistic?

Yes, but the time on the road is part of the booked hours. If you want more time at the wineries and less in the vehicle, the Orange County cluster around Washingtonville and Warwick is the shorter option from the south; the Ulster County trail suits a longer day.

Is there room for the wine we buy?

Yes, within reason. A couple’s purchases fit easily in an Aviator or a Suburban. If a large party plans to buy by the case, choose the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which has dedicated cargo space behind the rear seat.
