Majestic Transportation Services & Limo Inc.
Our Monticello car service works in two directions: residents and second-home owners heading out to catch a flight, and visitors coming in for the casino, a show or a weekend at the lake. The Village of Monticello is the Sullivan County seat, right on Route 17 in the Catskills, with Resorts World Catskills and The Kartrite Resort just outside the village. Either way, the planning starts with the same question: which airport makes the most sense from here.
From the village, Stewart International Airport in New Windsor is the nearest airport on our list: Route 17 down past Middletown, then a short stretch of I-84. If your airline flies the route you need from there, it is the easy choice. If not, Newark, LaGuardia and JFK are a longer haul. Approximate weekday morning figures from the village:
| From the village to | Distance | Weekday morning drive |
|---|---|---|
| Newark Liberty International (EWR) | about 99.5 miles | roughly 1 hour 42 minutes |
| LaGuardia (LGA) | about 95 miles | roughly 1 hour 57 minutes |
| JFK International | about 111 miles | roughly 2 hours 23 minutes |
Treat those as a guide, not a promise. Summer weekends, holiday traffic and snow on Route 17 all make the drive longer, and we build that into your pickup time. For a long-haul flight from JFK, it often pays to leave earlier than you think and wait at the gate rather than in traffic.
An evening out is one of the best reasons to book a local chauffeur. A dinner and a few hours at Resorts World Catskills or a summer performance at the Forestburgh Playhouse south of the village are short drives, but the ride home late at night on unlit country roads is a good reason to let someone else drive. Monticello Raceway runs its harness racing in the daytime, so an afternoon at the track can roll into dinner and a show with the same chauffeur. That is what our night on the town service is for, and booking by the hour keeps the vehicle on call if your plans change.
For concerts, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a short drive west on Route 17B, and we plan those nights with a fixed meeting point for after the show.
Around the village, many addresses are weekend houses, lake cottages and rental cabins down long driveways or private roads, where GPS is not always exact. When you book, add a short note: the color of the house, a landmark at the turn, or whether the driveway takes a large vehicle. It saves time on the night, especially for a pickup before dawn on the way to an early flight. Have the porch light on and be at the end of the driveway when the chauffeur is due; if headlights have not appeared by then, phone dispatch so we can guide the vehicle in.
A family coming up for a week at the lake, with kids, suitcases and a cooler, fits in the Chevrolet Suburban, which takes six riders and their luggage.
Next door to Resorts World, families heading to the Kartrite’s indoor waterpark can book the same way. North on Route 17 we also serve Liberty, and across the Orange County line, Deerpark, along with the rest of Sullivan County, from the river hamlets to the lake communities.
Yes, with an hourly booking. The chauffeur parks close to Resorts World and comes around as soon as you phone to say you are done. A one-way drop-off works too, but then the return is booked separately.
Yes. Give us the curtain time when you book. On an hourly booking the chauffeur stays nearby through the performance; with a set return time instead, choose one with some margin, because waiting beyond it is added to your bill.
In weekday morning traffic, yes, by about 15 minutes, even though Newark is slightly farther in miles. Traffic varies by day, so we compare routes when you give us your flight time.
Reserve a Stewart, Newark, LaGuardia or JFK transfer from home through our online reservations, entering your flight details there. If you prefer to talk it through, call (877) 811-8400; once the office closes for the day, our overnight dispatch team picks up, so a question about a dawn departure still reaches someone.
