  • Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

A stalwart of NYC Thanksgiving celebrations for over 90 years, this parade is as large and spectacular as they come. The parade attracts around 3.5 million spectators every year, so make sure you plan your route and get there early to ensure you get the best view. Beginning at 9am, the parade features incredible giant balloons, more than 1,500 dancers and cheerleaders, 30 floats, and a dozen marching bands. There will also be clowns, Broadway musical showcases, and other performers making their way along the west side of Central Park. This is one of the most popular events in the annual NYC calendar and is not a sight to be missed!

  • Winter Village at Bryant Park

This delightful winter wonderland returns again for 2017, featuring New York City’s only free-admission ice rink. Although you can get on the 17,000 square foot rink for free, skate hire will cost you $20 so bring your own if you have them! There are free skate lessons from certified coaches at 1pm and 2pm each day if you feel like refining your skills, or simply whizz across the ice and enjoy the beautiful views of surrounding Midtown anytime between 8am and 10pm daily. There are also a range of artisanal boutiques at the winter village offering unique gifts and delicious cuisine from local food vendors so you can re-fuel after your time on the ice.

  • Pilgrim Pedal

You’ve heard of a Turkey Trot, but if running’s not really your thing how about trying a Pilgrim Pedal? This family friendly Thanksgiving morning bike ride starts and ends in Manhattan with a stop at a diner in Brooklyn for pancakes and coffee halfway round. There will be prizes awarded for best costume and best themed bike – just make sure you can ride safely in whatever you choose to wear! The ride starts at 8am and pre-registration is a must if you plan to participate – happy peddling!

  • Big Apple Circus

The circus celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, so get down to Lincoln Center on the evening of Thanksgiving for a performance that promises to be full of thrills and excitement! The featured acts include a whole range of exceptional, world-class performers including high wire acrobats, clowns, contortionists, flying trapeze artists, jugglers, and roller skaters.
