  1. Turkey Mountain Preserve in Yorktown Heights

By following the blazes that are white in color, you will reach Turkey Mountain’s summit in less than half an hour. On a clear day, you will enjoy stunning views of the Croton Reservoir, the Manhattan skyline, and the Hudson Highlands. You can sit on one of the numerous rocks and have a snack or lunch while you enjoy the view of fall foliage. The hike can be ideal for both adults and children.

  1. Poet’s Walk in Rhinebeck

This hike is located an hour north of Rhinebeck town. The autumn field trip provides beautiful views of the fall foliage, and you can buy supplies from numerous shops in Rhinebeck. There is a nearby farm called Grieg Farm in Red Hook where there are apples for you to pick. Poet’s walk comprises about two miles of trails that connect, and that are wide and flat. The trails provide amazing sights of the Hudson River, the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, and the Catskill Mountains. The Blue Trail starts off at the parking grounds, and it will take you to Overlook Pavilion, a big gazebo. This section of the trail is ideal for joggers. Beyond this, you will see a short curve consisting of trails, one resulting to the Flagpole Lot and another resulting to the Summerhouse. These two curves link-up to spiral back to a trail called the Overlook Trail. They are not suitable for strollers.

  1. Rockwood Hall Trail in Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Sleepy Hollow

This trail is perfect for strollers, especially joggers. You can romp and run in its fields, climb the beautiful beech tree. And explore the old foundation. This Preserve section has numerous interconnecting trails. Across the parking area, you will find the Foundation Trail that slightly directs you uphill. When you round the bend, you will get a stunning view of River Hudson with its several picnic spots. The hike will treat you with a fantastic experience of fall foliage.

  1. Croton Gorge Park

You can check out fall foliage along the walkway above Croton Dam. The foliage falls between a hike and a drive. The park is open from morning to evening, and you will be able to see leaves change to red from green. The massive waterfall cascading from the gorge is a great addition to the view. To access the walkway that stands above the dam, head to the playground and start on the trail that results across a few switchbacks and up the hill.
