Best Outdoor Activities in Westchester this November

Just because the warmest months are behind us doesn’t mean you have to hang up your outdoor gear for the winter just yet – fall is a beautiful time of year to get out, take in the magnificent autumnal colors and explore the best that

Westchester has to offer without unbearable heat or excessive chill. Here are our picks of the top activities to enjoy in the region this fall.

Hike and bike

There are numerous trails and parks to explore in Westchester. Try going for a stroll or a bike ride along the 13.2-mile trail that forms the Bronx River Parkway, the oldest park in the county. This picturesque paved trail features pretty ponds and wooden bridges and is a popular location for nature study. For something that boasts history as well as beauty, the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail is a great choice. The 22-mile route follows the path of the Old Croton Aqueduct that supplied water to New York City between 1842 and 1955 and passes many historic homes and landmarks such as Octagon House, Lyndhurst Mansion, Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and Croton Dam Plaza. The trail is fairly flat and easy to follow so ideal if you don’t want anything too strenuous while you take in the stunning Hudson River views.

Paddle the Hudson

If you feel like getting really active, there are a number of companies that offer equipment rental and guided tours on the Hudson itself. Why not hop in a kayak and let an expert guide show you the sights of Sleepy Hollow or Croton Point – all from a unique perspective right on the river! If relaxing and letting someone else do the hard work is more your style, you can still enjoy taking in the sights of the historic Hudson valley from the river by taking a cruise boat around the scenic shoreline instead.

Go horseback riding

Why not try a horseback trail ride for a unique and peaceful way to take in the scenery of the Westchester area from off the beaten track? Book a tour and your guide will take you to discover some of the most breathtaking scenery the region has to offer – a truly special treat that all ages can enjoy taking part in together.

Play a round of golf

Westchester boasts some of the best golf courses in the country, enjoying several designed by noted American course architect A. W. Tillinghast including Quaker Ridge Golf Course in Scarsdale, Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle and Winged Foot (East and West courses) in Mamaroneck. If you can’t get access to play a round on one of these famous courses there are numerous highly-regarded public golf courses that welcome guests from all over the country – some of the consistently well-rated courses based on condition, scenary and playability include Mohansic in Yorktown Heights, Hudson Hills in Ossining and Saxon Woods in Scarsdale.

Whatever activity you choose, you can be sure that our Westchester car service will get you where you need to be with ease and comfort. Let our professional chauffeurs take the stress out of transport so you can relish your fall activities to the full, then enjoy being whisked away in luxury after a fulfilling day spent enjoying the outdoors.
