Best New Year’s Eve Fireworks in New York City

Wherever your New Years Eve celebrations take you, you can’t really go wrong in the Big Apple. If you want to see in 2018 with a bang then look no further than our selection of the best places to watch the spectacular fireworks displays taking place around the city when midnight rolls around.

  • Take a walk along the Brooklyn Bridge

This is a popular spot to look back over the city and across to Brooklyn so you can take in a whole range of spectacular displays lighting up the stunning skyline and glittering over the Hudson river. Get there early to save a good spot or you could even sign up for a special New Year’s Eve tour to learn all about the unique history of the bridge from a specially trained guide before pausing at midnight to take in the fireworks.

  • Celebrate in Times Square

The quintessential New Years celebration experience, if you decide to tackle the crowds and enjoy Times Square’s famous ambience when the ball drops make sure you are well prepped. You’ll need to get there in the afternoon to secure one of the prime spots around Broadway and Seventh Ave and once you’re there you won’t be able to move away for food or bathroom breaks if you want to keep your space! That being said, if you can make it ‘til midnight it’ll be a truly unique experience you are unlikely to ever forget.

  • Watch from a rooftop bar

Of course New York is famed for it’s incredible selection of rooftop bars, so why not head down to one of the city’s best to sip on delicious cocktails while watching incredible firework displays glistening all over the city from a sky-high perspective! If you can get in, you can’t go wrong with perennial favorites such as Le Bain, the Empire Hotel Rooftop, Mr Purple, or St Cloud. For wintery vibes try Baita at Eately, an Italian Alps pop-up on the 14th floor of the popular foodie destination, or the cabin-themed Lodge at Gallow Green.

  • Take in the Prospect Park display

For a more low-key and relaxed celebration, wrap up warm and head down to Prospect Park to ring in the New Year with the park’s 38th annual firework display. The event is completely free and open to the public, so get all the family together and grab a good spot on Grand Army Plaza or the West Drive area of the park to join in the fun from 10.30pm. There will be live music and hot drinks on offer to warm you up while you wait for the incredible display when the clock strikes midnight.
