Limousines were also popular as delivery vehicles, as they were the largest vehicles available. As the automobile rose to prominence at the end of the nineteenth century, coaches with separate driver and passenger compartments were introduced to take advantage of the new technology. Limousines in America can be traced back to 1903, though they were already driving around Europe before the turn of the century.
